- Knowledge gained: What did I learn this week, academically and personally?
Academically I learnt my tracing skills definitely need some work hahaha, but also that I am on the right path. I am finding the juggle both real but also rewarding and thus far it is going well (I won't say 'to plan', but good none the less!). Personally, I have learnt that I am very resilient and capable. I have enjoyed the challenge of balancing life, work and study and feel as if my natural need for order and organisation is driving me to be a better version of me. A better Mum, better Wife, better Student and better work colleague!
- Challenges: What obstacles did I face, and how did I overcome them?
The week past has really been much of the same as week 1 as I still have one of my daughter's home all week due to a neck injury and the only way to overcome this is to lean of the support system I have. Both my mother and mother-in-law stepped up to the plate this week and we trialled mum collecting Frankie from Kindy on Wednesday so I could attend this class live and it worked perfectly. In fact, it was probably one of my most organised days as I had to prepare dinner during the day and it also allowed me a little time at home to complete some life admin. Winning!
- Successes & strengths: What successes or strengths did I recognise in myself this week?
This week my organisation, resilience and gang of superheroes behind me really shone through as my greatest strengths. I also feel I am succeeding in keeping on top of my workload to date which is helping to manage my stress greatly!
- Application: How can I apply what I have learned?
I felt more comfortable asking for the help that I needed, and I am working on saying no and prioritising both what is truly important and myself (to an extent). I find I am much more focused and less stressed if I can do some sort of physical activity during my day. I love to either run in the mornings or do a gym class during the day and I did see this slip a little in week one so this week I found the time (usually at 5am) to make sure I fit it into my day and placed some emphasis on getting it done!
- Areas for improvement: What skills or knowledge would I like to develop further?
I definitely need to spend more time on my first assessment for Graphic Communication. I originally felt I could lean on my natural drawing abilities; however, I am now finding they are not as natural as I remembered when I was practicing regularly in my Highschool years and definitely need some work. Otherwise, I am feeling quite comfortable right now, but this may change as my husband is going away for a week as of Saturday and I am really going to have to put on my big girl pants to run our business solo!
- Goals: Based on my reflections, what personal goals can I set for the coming week?
My goal for this week is just to get through managing the extra workload of the business and not to do anything particularly stupid as I know my husband will definitely let me know about it when he gets back. He is not the type to mince his words hahaha
You’re doing a fantastic job juggling so much Alexandra, and your pie chart is a fun way to reflect on your day! It’s great to see you leaning on your support system and making time for yourself, even if it means a 5am run or gym class. You’re right though, keeping up those little routines really helps with focus and stress. As for your drawing skills, a bit of practice will make a difference, and you’ll get back into the groove. Good luck with running the business solo this week, trust yourself! :)
